Welcome to my photo blog, thanks for dropping in.
This is me:
I am a Communications Engineer, retired.
I have lived and worked around the world but have recently retired to my hometown of Seaton Carew, England. Since buying my first E1 about six years ago, I have never wanted a different SLR, It just feels so perfect in the hand and oh! that shutter sound, or lack of. I now have two E1′s, one fitted with a Zuiko 14-54mm and the other has a 9-18mm attached. The E1 is a little dated now but is still capable of capturing very good images on its wonderful Kodak sensor. It is only 5Mp but there is something about the colour that is quite unique. For processing I rely on Adobe Lightroom 4 and photoshop 7. I also have two Zeiss lenses, a 180mm f2.8 and a 50mm f1.7 both fitted with a contax to 4/3 adaptor.

Hi Dave,
I like the new look….
Thanks Dave
You may have noticed that I have tried a few since leaving Oman, though I think that I will settle on this one for a while. I particulary like the header photo which is a crop from a totem-like pole which I took whilst in Thailand. This theme is well suited to a photo blog also. I notice that you have been taking your F3 out and about lately, you obviously enjoyed the affair. I am still waiting to see your first digital photo!
Nice blog.
Thanks a lot
I like your photos a lot David. You have an eye for details that I can appreciate.
I was also intrigued by the Monkey Hanger reference, as I am an adopted Smoggie.
I look forward to visiting your blog in the future.
Thanks Mike and feel free to drop by anytime. Welcome to Teesside.
Hi Dave very love your photo works Great shot thanks for visiting my Blog
Great photo blog! Thanks for the visit. -M
Some stunning images on your home page and I never can resist a good photo, though I’m not especially accomplished in that department myself. That apart I’m a fellow Poolie!
You do beautiful work. A favorite is the 2 silhouettes on the dune, North Gare, Hartlepool.
Thanks for your kind comment
The best pictures come from a ‘take anywhere’ camera, everyone should have one. Lovely pictures.
Mike
Thank you Mr. Mole.
I visited some of your pages and watched your amazing photographs. You have a wonderful style; artistic, impressive and beautiful… and also image sharpness fascinated me. I am so glad to meet with your blog. Thank you, with my love, nia
Thanks for your kind comments.
I just stumbled on your blog via ‘freshly pressed’, and have been sitting here completely engrossed for the last hour. Superb photos and a fantastic blog presentation. I just wish I could do as well. Perhaps your inspiration will help me.
Greatly appreciated.
i feel the “blue” in your photos are SPECIAL.
Could possibly be down to the Kodak sensor in the E1. Thanks.
Wow Great photography…lovely BLog!
Thanks very much.
Great blog and photography. I can spend another hour here. You have quite a collection for sure. Hope to see more in the weeks to come.
~Todd

I’m glad I’ve found your blog – it’s reminding me of all the great places on Teesside I used to visit, when I lived there.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Look forward to seeing your photography!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Not sure if you saw that there are a couple of sets of photos from Steetley Magnasite Works which is in your neck of the woods. If you put Steetley Magnasite into the search bar on my blog they should pop up. The Masthead on my Postcard Cafe blog is the 1000ft industrial pier at the works. I look forward to seeing more of your photographs. Best wishes…

Thanks also for your nomination, believe me it is greatly appreciated but I do find that I am unable to keep up with all the attention that these awards bring. I will however, keep commenting on worthy blogs such as yours. Thanks again.

Congratulations indeed and thanks for my nomination. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for visiting my blog and liking my post, David. Cheers from way across the pond!
You are very welcome.
I’ve enjoyed looking at your photos for awhile now. I decided to share my photos publicly. I’ve only been shooting a year so your work inspires me. Tell me what you think at sherihillphotography.com on Word Press.
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. I was just like you when I first started my blog, it took quite a while before finally plucking up the courage to submit posts. Take lots of photos then be your own worst critic, be ruthless and keep only the ones that you really, really like. Good luck. 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Your advice is appreciated!
Love your work thank you for sharing
Mike
Likewise Mike and thanks for dropping by.

Hi David, thanks for visiting my blog and for the nice words. I’m not much of a writer, so i don’t give a lot comments .
But be sure that i admire your pictures and follow your photographic adventures.
Greetings from Belgium
Geert
Hello Geert. We have two things in common, we both like photography and are not big writers. Thanks for your likes and visiting.
David
Hi David. Thanks so much for commenting on a recent photo of mine. I’m pretty new to digital photography; you’re feedback means a lot. I love the images that you’ve posted here and I look forward to what will come. My blog is really more of my writing space, but I do share some photos. If you’re interested, most of my images are here: tomshenry.zenfolio.com. Thanks again.
Tom
Many thanks Tom. Popping over to your blog now 🙂
Just returned from your photo site Tom and I see some very impressive images with some wonderful skies in your landscape shots. A very good portfolio.

I just found you and absolutely love your work. Your images are captivating. Lovely, just lovely.
Thank you so much for dropping by Debi and leaving your welcome comment. You have a lovely travelogue blog, makes me want to be there. Love the Valentine Day photo.
Thank you for dropping by as well, David. My blog is travelogue-y when I’m traveling and nature-y when I’m not! It shifts with my mood and schedule, as do all things I guess. Have a great day!
Found your blog through a comment you made on the blog of Geert…
Very nice pictures… I’m a little bit jealous 🙂 Wish I could travel that much…
Thanks for dropping by and for your welcome comment. No need to feel jealous, most of my travels where to do with work 🙂
It are not the travels I’m jealous of… it are the pictures 🙂
Well, thank you once again.
Good Morning , nice to meet You and Your blog 🙂 Great posts, great ideas , pleasure to be here , i wish You the best,in free time see my little place too, Regards from Poland , EM
I spent hours thinking about it, but I simply can’t find words to describe your stunning photographs. Thank you for sharing them!
Thank you so much.
I’m relaxing here David with a sundowner as I listen to the soft, slow hum of the water and the lapping of the waves against the bows I enjoy the ranquility of your image.
Thank you Harold, you are making me envious 🙂
Love the new set up, David 🙂 It showcases your work beautifully.
And look at all the friends you’ve made! Not bad for a monkey hanger, is it? 🙂 🙂
Thanks Jo. A change is as good as a rest they say 🙂 There may be a few more people around the world who now know about us Monkey Hangers 🙂
I just started using Lightroom 5 and I’m completely hooked. Love your photos and will have to seriously give some consideration to getting an Olympus camera. I read good reviews on it’s features in http://www.dpreview.com. I read that it works much like a full framed camera. I’m still new to photography but I’m trying to learn as much as I can. Great photos, btw!
Hi David,
I was searching for information about the Olympus E-1 and came across your site. The photos on your site demonstrate again what an excellent photographer can do with obsolete equipment. Fantastic photos. I will be coming back to this site so please keep them coming!
Thanks for dropping by John and for your kind comments. The E1 is certainly in the mold of ‘oldie but goodie’ with a Kodak sensor that produces great colour. Ashamed to admit that I have just this past week, sold one of mine to fund the purchase of a new Sony Rx 10. Head is hanging!!!
Hey, I’ve nominated you for the Leibster award
